Zero tolerance policy
cardots has zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. Content that targets, harasses, threatens, or endangers other members — or that violates the prohibitions listed below — will be removed and the responsible account suspended or permanently banned at our discretion.
If you encounter objectionable content or an abusive user, please use the Report button on the dot, comment, or profile, or the Block user action on a profile to remove that user's content from your experience immediately. Our moderation team reviews and acts on every report within 24 hours.
Our principles
cardots is built around a simple idea: connect photos of special cars to the stories, listings, profiles, and events behind them. To keep the community healthy, we ask every member to follow these guidelines in addition to our Terms of Service.
- Respect - treat other members the way you want to be treated.
- Originality - whenever possible, share your own photos.
- Attribution - when you save content from elsewhere, include the original source and credit the creator.
- Relevance - cardots is about cars. Keep posts on-topic.
Attribution for content you didn't create
Most dots on cardots are saved from around the web via our browser extension or a direct upload. When you save content you did not create yourself:
- Always include the original source URL in the dot's external link.
- Credit the photographer or rights holder in the description when known.
- Do not remove watermarks or signatures.
- Respect explicit "do not repost" requests from the creator.
We're planning a Verified Creator badge for members who consistently post original content they own.
Prohibited content
The following content is not allowed on cardots:
- Content that infringes copyright, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights
- Harassment, hate speech, or targeted attacks against individuals or groups
- Sexually explicit or gratuitously violent material
- Personal data of private individuals shared without consent (doxxing)
- Spam, automated posting, or coordinated inauthentic behavior
- Scams, fraudulent listings, or misleading links
- Content promoting illegal activities, including unsafe driving content that endangers others
- Impersonation of people, brands, or organizations
- Malware, phishing links, or any code intended to harm users or the platform
Enforcement and consequences
We enforce these guidelines through a combination of user reports and proactive review. Depending on severity, violations may lead to:
- Warning - a notice that a specific action was not acceptable.
- Content removal - the offending dot or comment is removed.
- Strike - formal record of a violation. Strikes expire after 12 months of good standing.
- Temporary suspension - account is frozen for a period.
- Permanent ban - for repeated, severe, or illegal violations.
We operate a three-strike policy for copyright infringement — see our Copyright Policy for details.
